VCSE AI Peer Network

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Social Impact

The AI Peer Network connects voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across the South-West to explore, learn, and collaborate on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Whether you’re new to AI or already experimenting with its potential, this network provides a supportive space to enhance your understanding and apply AI for social good.

Why Join the AI Peer Network?

By joining the AI Peer Network, VCSE organisations can:

  • Collaborate and Share Knowledge: Learn from peers and experts about real-world AI applications in the sector.

  • Adopt Ethical AI Practices: Understand how to use AI responsibly, focusing on equity, privacy, and sustainability.

  • Gain Practical Skills: Discover how AI can improve services, internal processes, and organisational impact.

  • Build Community Connections: Join a non-technical, inclusive environment to discuss challenges, opportunities, and ideas.

  • Explore AI’s Impact: Start to understand the potential impacts of AI on communities across the South West.

How the Network Works

The AI Peer Network offers:

  • Regular Sessions: Online meetings every six weeks, with one in-person gathering annually, starting 26 February 2025. Each session includes discussion on a chosen topic. Participants will decide what topics to cover, such as ethics, data security, mindsets, or specific AI tools. Register for our launch session here.

  • Interactive Format: Sessions include topic discussions, lightning talks, and collaborative problem-solving. A member of the peer network will share how they’re using AI, including any challenges they’re facing. The group will have a chance to help problem-solve together, with input from experts.

  • Participant-Driven Agendas: Topics are shaped by members, ensuring relevance and value for all. At the end of each session, the group will set the agenda for the next meeting.

Who Can Join?

The network welcomes VCSE organisations of all sizes and stages in their AI journey, including:

  • Small and medium-sized charities and community organisations exploring AI for data and decision-making.

  • Social impact organisations interested in responsible and ethical AI applications.

  • Nonprofits at any level of AI knowledge, from beginners to innovators.

Who Is This Not For?

While we aim to be inclusive, the network may not suit:

  • Organisations with a purely commercial focus.

  • Those seeking advanced technical AI training or general IT support.

  • Organisations with no current interest or plans to explore AI.
