Tech Together

Connecting local tech talent with community needs across the South West

Tech Together, led by Tech4Good South West, is a place-based, peer-led initiative helping members connect, share skills, and strengthen digital confidence across the region.

Launched in 2025, it brings together charities, social enterprises, technologists, and digital teams from across the South West to:

  • Share knowledge and experiences

  • Build digital confidence

  • Strengthen local relationships

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and support

Participation is open to Tech4Good South West members who want to connect through light-touch, human-centred digital skill sharing.

Tech Together is open to all Tech4Good South West members. Become a Tech4Good South West member today to get started.

Why it exists

Across the South West, we have both incredible tech talent and a vibrant voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE):

  • 18,500+ tech companies across the region

  • 23,700 VCSE organisations — the highest per capita outside London

Yet these communities rarely connect.

Tech Together bridges that gap — creating a simple, trusted way for digital experts and community organisations to share challenges, get access expert advice, mentors, or quick calls to help unlock a digital challenge.

It’s part of our wider mission and we know from our research that 80% of community organisations have not accessed digital training in the last 12 months.

Tech Together is about opening up conversations. Creating the opportunities for our community organisations to seek advice and chat through the digital challenges they are facing.

How it works

Members complete a short Tech Together Connection Form outlining what they can offer or what challenge they need support with:

  • The Tech4Good South West team reviews submissions and connects members where there’s a useful match

  • Queries and updates are shared via member channels (WhatsApp and LinkedIn)

  • When a good match is identified, members are introduced directly for an informal chat

  • These exchanges are self-directed — we simply create the conditions for collaboration

  • Short guides and member stories shared through our newsletter and website

  • Celebrating small wins, sharing examples, and building collective learning

Important note:

Tech Together is not a managed volunteering programme. It’s a light-touch way to connect, share skills, and build confidence. Any follow-up conversations or activities happen directly between members at their own discretion.
