Tech4Good South West Membership Terms
Effective from: July 2025
Thank you for your interest in joining Tech4Good South West. These terms set out the rights and responsibilities of our members and how we manage membership, community standards, data, and use of digital platforms. By becoming a member, you agree to these terms.
1. About Tech4Good South West
Tech4Good South West is a community-led, non-profit network that connects people and organisations across the South West of England who are using, building, or advocating for technology to drive social and environmental good.
We convene technologists, community leaders, charities, social enterprises, public sector professionals, businesses, and researchers to explore how digital innovation can serve people, planet and place.
Through collaborative programmes, peer learning, practical support and advocacy, we are building a thriving and inclusive tech-for-good ecosystem in the South West.
We operate the website tech4goodsouthwest.org and subsidiary pages connected to this website. Tech4Good South West CIC Ltd (Company No. 15411048) of 2 Beech View, Bath BA2 6DX.
2. Eligibility
Membership is open to:
Individuals who are aligned with our values and active in the tech for good space
Charities, social enterprises, community organisations and public sector bodies
Tech businesses, startups, freelancers and digital agencies
Academic institutions, researchers and students with a relevant interest
We welcome members from across the South West region and beyond.
3. Membership Application & Fees
Membership can be requested by contacting us at hello@tech4goodsouthwest.org or via our contact form. Once we receive your details, we will issue an invoice according to the appropriate membership type.
Membership is confirmed once payment is received.
Pricing
Membership pricing is available on our website at tech4goodsouthwest.org/membership, or by contacting us directly
Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of activation and is renewable annually. Membership payments will be via invoice.
The prices for membership, events and workshops are payable in advance. We shall be under no obligation to provide membership or access to any events until the payment has been paid in full. Membership fees and prices of other services may change from time to time. Any changes that impact existing members will be notified in writing.
Discounts: A member may join at a discounted rate if they receive a promotional code through Tech4Good South West CIC or a third party with whom Tech4Good South West CIC has a formal agreement. This discount may be for a free trial or a discount on the monthly fee for a set period of time. The discount is only valid for the set determined period.
The benefits of membership are subject to change from time to time and no refunds will be issued in the event of a benefit no longer being available.
If you have paid to attend a workshop or event and cancel within five working days of the workshop or event taking place, we are unfortunately not able to refund your payment.
If we do not receive payment authorisation for a service or if the authorisation is cancelled, we may immediately terminate or suspend access to your membership.
All prices are expressed exclusive of any VAT payable unless otherwise stated. If the rate of VAT changes between the date of your application and the date of acceptance, we will adjust the VAT you pay.
4. Membership Benefits
As a member of Tech4Good South West, you’ll have access to:
Member-only events and peer learning opportunities
Opportunities to collaborate on community-led programmes and pilots
Access to our private LinkedIn and WhatsApp groups for informal sharing and connection
Priority access to training, workshops and digital inclusion initiatives
A profile on our website (for organisations)
The chance to showcase your work, ideas and opportunities across our channels
Membership is designed to support both individual learning and collective impact.
5. Community Participation & Conduct
We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive environment. All members must follow our Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct, which apply across all Tech4Good South West-hosted events and platforms.
Violations of our guidelines may lead to warnings, suspension or removal of membership, in line with our enforcement policy.
6. Use of Digital Platforms
We host our digital community through:
A private LinkedIn group for paid members
A WhatsApp group for informal updates and peer support
Our public website and member communications via email
Access to these platforms is subject to continued adherence to our community guidelines and responsible use.
7. Personal Information & Data Protection
We are committed to maintaining the privacy of our users and members and maintaining the security of any personal information we receive from you. If you register for any of our Services you will be asked to provide basic personal information.
The General Data Protection Regulations, (GDPR), apply from 25 May 2018, creating consistent data protection rules across Europe. At Tech4Good South West CIC, we shall ensure that we adopt the GDPR principles of transparency, control and accountability for all our Members and Users. GDPR gives our members and users certain rights when using our Services, which include the right to:
be informed;
access;
rectification;
erasure;
withdraw consent;
restrict processing;
data portability;
object
We promise we will:
Process your data lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner
Collect data for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes (mostly to provide services to you)
Never sell your data onto anyone else
Ensure your data is processed and stored securely and is kept up-to-date
Constantly review and update our processes to ensure we’re always protecting your data
You will always:
Have access to the data stored on you
Be able to correct any inaccuracies in the data
Know we will erase any data no longer required, even if you haven’t asked
8. User Accounts & Security
Where access to member platforms or benefits requires account login (e.g. event platforms or mailing lists), you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not share your access credentials with others.
We may suspend or restrict access if we detect misuse or breaches of these terms.
9. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated:
All original content published by Tech4Good South West is the intellectual property of Tech4Good South West and may not be reproduced without permission
Members retain ownership of any content they create and share, but by posting it within our community platforms, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to share or reference it (with attribution) within the community context
Please respect the intellectual property rights of other members and external contributors.
10. Liability
Tech4Good South West is not liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from your use of membership services or participation in community spaces, including digital platforms and events.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality or content of member-contributed materials or third-party links.
Participation in our spaces is at your own discretion and risk.
11. Cancellations and Termination
Membership payment is on an annual basis (“Membership period”). Your membership will automatically renew each year until it is terminated by either party. You will automatically be charged using the same payment method you first supplied.
You will act in good faith and select the correct Membership Type and notify us immediately if you become aware you are no longer in the correct membership type. If you need to step up a level then congratulations, your organisation is growing. Please let us know so we can adjust accordingly, but at least 14 days before the renewal date. If your organisation circumstances change in the other direction, you can step down to a lower membership type, when it comes to the renewal date, but we are not able to refund your membership as your membership monies will have already been accounted for in our budgets. Please ensure you let us know at least 7 days before the renewal date, if you need to step down a level.
You may terminate your membership at any time by either informing us by email or speaking to a member of the team. If you decide within 14 days of paying for membership that it is not for you and you have not taken advantage of any of our services, you can cancel your membership and your payment will be refunded. Please note we do not offer refunds after 14 days.
All information provided by you to us must be true and accurate at the point of applying. Please notify us immediately of any changes to your email, account or billing information.
